New Teaching Job!!!

As of yesterday, February 10th, I am the new Performing Arts teacher at Beacon Hill Private School! This is exciting news!! Although I've taught many years of summer camp, voice lessons, and even was a substitute teacher and teaching assistant, this is the first time that I will have my very own classroom!

I was so filled with anticipation, joy, and optimism yesterday that I simply could. not. sleep. I just kept envisioning my new classroom, fantasizing about lesson plans, wondering about my students, their talents, and what I might be able to do with them.

No, this job will not pay me the millions of dollars a year I would like to be making in a year. It will, in fact, barely pay a fraction of that. However, being a teacher pays in so many ways that have nothing to do with money. The thanks, appreciation, and smiles of my students pay handsomely. So does the knowledge that I'm passing on information, skills, and an appreciation for the arts that was passed onto me by my own amazing and dedicated teachers. I may not exactly be prepared physically to have an entire classroom to myself yet, but my heart and soul have always been ready!
