Meet The Teacher
Hello! As you may have guessed, I'm Heather Elswick. Since I have the tendency to ramble a bit, I will do my best to keep this short and sweet, but I can't make any promises. Keep reading if you want to get a little more familiar with me, what I do, and what I've done. Hope to hear from you soon!

Music Director
Since 2010, I have been the music director for the Western Broward location of the Musical Theater Summer Camp by the Performance Project and Broward Center for the Arts. It has taught me a lot about not only each show that we've done (6 shows each summer), but also how to be more flexible and well-rounded in my teaching methods so that each student gets the most out of their experience. In addition to summer camp, I've musically directed and assisted with dozens of productions for this theater and others.
Voice Teacher

Even before I was officially a voice teacher, I was always that one student in middle school, high school, and college who took it upon myself to help my peers with harmonies, rhythms, and reading music. Being an oldest child made me a "teacher" from the earliest years of my life. I've always loved helping others. I began teaching my first official private voice student in 2011. Since then, several of my former students have gone off to and even graduated from their first choices for performance arts colleges. I am so proud of them!

Stage Actor

My first role was in 3rd grade when I was entrusted to play The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizad of Oz. I absorbed every second of the theatre experience. In high school, I landed a few Ensemble roles as well as Aunt Eller in Oklahoma, and in college I had the honor of playing Anita in West Side Story. Music was always more my thing, even though I always loved playing pretend and dress-up. Working for the Performance Project School of the Arts, I have had the opportunity to perform as well as teach. Honestly, I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world to do what I love as my job!

Singer
Since before I could speak words, I have been humming and singing whenever, wherever! At two years old, I felt the sheer joy, admiration, and appreciation of an audience (even though it was for someone else), paired that with my love of singing and performance, and instantly decided that I needed to be a singer when I grew up. Mixed Chorus, Show Choir, Chamber Madrigal Choir, Women's Chorus, All County Chorus, All State Chorus, Jazz Band, Punk Band, Classic Rock Band, Pop Band, Unplugged Band,
Barbershop Chorus, Barbershop Quartet, Musical Theatre, Clasical, Opera, and lots and lots of karaoke are some of the types of singing I've done in my life so far. I hope to always continue adding to that list!
